It has a step-shaped shaft with different round cross-sections and 1850 mm × 1110 mm rectangular cross-section. If the general method of free forging is used, the upsetting diameter of ingot will reach 2900 mm, and 8400 t hydraulic press current will not be produced so that the loose tooling forging process is to be used. The loose tooling forging process of rectangular flange has been researched by using DEFORM-3D simulation software and establishing a reasonable forging process. The production results reveal that the heavy forgings used as grinding roller shafts can be successfully produced with the present 8400 t capacity hydraulic presses. The eligible forgings have proved the rationality of the technical process.

Application of perfect mixing model for simulation of vertical roller mills
Vertical roller mills (VRMs) are well-established grinding equipment for various tasks in the coal and cement industry. There are few studies on simulation of VRMs. In this research work, application of perfect mixing model for simulation of a VRM in a cement grinding plant was investigated. Two sampling surveys were carried out on the VRM circuit. The samples and data from the first survey wer...

Cooperating with heavy forging press, the heavy-duty forging manipulator is used for handling the workpiece during the free-forging process. Therefore, the size accuracy of the forgings is related to the dynamics performance of the forging manipulator. This paper aims to study the dynamic performance of DDS heavy-duty forging manipulator. The kinematics model is firstly built to predict the tra...

Considering heavy forged parts presented that water spray is an appropriate technique as quenching operation. In general, the rapid cooling causes residual stress field due to the dis-homogeneity of the distribution of temperature in the part and the different microstructural phases. In comparison with other conventional quenching methods, spray-quenching method could have a capability to contr...

There are a wide range of physical defects which occur during metal forming processes. These defects, which may occur on the surface or be internal, are undesirable not only because of the surface appearance, but because they may adversely affect the strength, formability and other manufacturing characteristics of the material. Some physical defects in metal forming processes such as rolling an...
